Saturday 2s vs Horley

It was something of a mission to get to Horley but it is a pretty neat set up with covers that protected a hard pitch. I was glad to have been put in: JP and I picked up most of the team from the train station but Macca had locked his car keys in the boot of his car and Nathan was stuck on a bus replacement service in Penge (from memory). Anyway, we batted pretty well and not just in comparison to last week. I got 47, Parshav a well made 31, JP (14) was on the wrong end of some comedy running which saw him and Hensh racing for the same end at one point. Never run on a midfield! But it was our exclusively 'stralian middle order that pushed us on to 204-5. Nathan (20) was unorthodox, Hensh (37*) was circumspect before pushing on and Joe McGahan (31*) played very freely in his 23 balls received. Not sure about his 'tache, however. Movember's months away. They reached 44-0 in their 12 overs, just enough time to drop a straightforward catch, which was bad luck for bowler James Toseland. Saad again bowled well (8 off 6 overs). There was some kerfuffle about how to deploy the D/L method for when we got back out there. In the end, it was academic as, while the covers had done their job protecting the strip, the square had standing water that we going nowhere. |
