Back to winning ways, our 100% home form still intact at “Fortress Putneyâ€, we welcomed the Milton brothers back from the IPL in India. On losing the toss we are put into bat against a young and underrated Spencer side. Ali Milne-Home (24) and Rob Milton (48) put us off to a solid start backed up well by a quick fire (65) from Adam Milton. Chris Donovan back to his best then duly bided his time whilst the wickets fell; Jim Stirrup and Angus Braham both falling for ducks, skip managing the one. Enter Dave Lennon who hits 61 off approximately 24 balls, Chris managing 59, also not out. Simply outstanding batting from Putney, a very good 278 for 6 off 40 overs. Spencer showed what a good side they were and though not ever really getting into the game, managed a very respectable 240 for 4 off 40 overs. A very classy 103 off their number 2 frustrated the Putney bowlers, wickets were few and far between. Again good figures from Willow and Dave, a wicket each, Putney though could really have done with a spin bowler on the day. In the end the day was ours, a strong win slightly marred by the incessant din in the background of the fun fair. Man of the match. Dave Lennon. |
