This was a match will forever be remembered in the annals of Putney CC as The Tristan Leach Match A ropey looking pitch proved to be full of pace as Putney batted first. Tristan was dropped at gully second ball but from their there was no looking back (for PCC, anyway). On and on he powered with shots all around the ground against bowling that varied from pretty good to filth. He put on 81 with Shaw (27) and 150 with Mike Oliver (25). Tristan was powerful and fluent, Mike the opposite taking ten overs to get off the mark! Amazingly antipodean superstars Lilja and Peach last three balls between that but Leach pushed further on to 146* (27 x 4, 1 six) out of 246 in 40 overs. Putney bowled tightly: Jamil 8-2-34-0, Luke 2_24 off 8, Anderson similar. It all came the same to Hook's Milton who was offside awesome, despite being dropped on 0, scoring 105 of 160. It took a peach from, err, Peach to trim his bails. Next highest score was 21. Milton's flaw was, a Tristan put it, an inability to up his tempo! A criticism only a centurion could've made! Hook faded, being 70 short. Even Trevor got a wicket! |
